Typical nurse to patient ratio:

Primarily an all RN staff with Nurse Care Techs and Health Unit Coordinators. Ratio is generally 1:1 in pre- and post-op area and one RN circulator for every surgery patient.

Typical pt diagnosis:

Unit takes care of surgery patients having gynecology, caesarian section, and ophthalmology procedures.

Common skills utilized:

Pre- and post-operative nursing care, circulating and scrub technician skills

Most common meds / those nurses must be familiar with:

Antihypertensives, Anesthesia medications, antibiotics, pain medications, antiemetic medications, emergency/code drugs
