Winter Haven Hospital established in 1926 serves as the major medical center for east Polk County and the highway 27/Ridge Corridor. The hospital is a division of Mid-Florida Medical Services, a locally owned and operated501(C)(3)not-for-profit organization which is governed by an independent Board of Trustees made up of local business and civic leaders who serve without pay. With 527 licensed hospital beds, Winter Haven Hospital is the largest of the two main facilities in our healthcare system followed by our women's hospital, the Regency Medical Center. Winter Haven Hospital with over 2,600 employees is the largest private employer in east Polk County. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and has over 300 board-certified physicians on its medical staff representing every major specialty.
